WELCOME and thank you for visiting my website.
I've recently added two more booklets to my Put it in Your pocket series. Socrates and Plato.
I'm also pleased to say that my book, 'Oh Socrates! (Tracking the Olympian Gods and the life and death of Socrates)' has now been published.
In this book I write about the stories of the Gods which Socrates questioned. Drawing on my past journeys to Greece, I set the background to the great philosopher's life when it was all important not to offend the Gods. I describe his prosecution, trial, imprisonment and death. It has needed a lot of research, and I have tried to lighten it with my own life experiences and queries regarding religion.
It is very much a book for non-academics who have heard of Socrates and that he drank hemlock but know little more. My aim as always is to create a serious but also at times an amusing read.
"So many books about ancient Greece are as dry and dusty as their unopened covers. Not so with 'Oh Socrates!' by Jill Dudley. The whiff of cow manure about Harry - combined with utterly readable erudition - is a cocktail of delight." Jamie Stone MP
